On Saturday, March 22 at 8 pm, Jonathan Poretz, one of San Francisco Bay Area’s gifted performers, back by popular demand at the Throckmorton Theater, will take the stage with his "Sex, Swagger & Swing: Sinatra and Darin in the Concert That Never Was"
Jonathan knows that the fans of Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darrin are as faithful and diehard as they come. He says, “You’re either with or against one or the other.” Though Sinatra and Bobby Darren never shared a stage, Jonathan, with the skill of a magician, seamlessly does the impossible. He brings these two musical giants together in concert for the first time. Jonathan is able to capture the feel of some of the greats of the not-so-distant past yet present himself with a style uniquely his own. Yes, style, voice, joy and energy that can’t help but make you happy to be in his sphere.
Regardless of whose camp you’re in, prepare yourself for an exhilarating musical evening as Poretz and his Mini Basie Big Band pit Sinatra and Darin classics against each other in a true Clash of the Titans. Among the song battles that will be played out are: “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” vs. “Mack The Knife”, “Goody Goody” vs. “As Long As I’m Singing”, “Old McDonald vs. Clementine”, “New York, New York” vs. “Sunday In New York”, “Fly Me To The Moon” vs. “Charade”, “My Way” vs. “The Curtain Falls” and many more.
Life well lived can take some planning, and as you have only 2 weeks to go for this one-of-a-kind musical treat, you may want to know that tickets for this concert are now available. Stay tuned to this column for more on Jonathan and the loving family life that propelled him to a musical career, and about his love for his wife and daughters. Hint; his mother Frank Sinatra, father Mel Tormé. Yes, stay tuned because you will soon be able to hear Jonathan tell this story of his life and relationships in his own words and voice on Love Letters Live.
