Jon Stewart appeared Wednesday on Bill O’Reilly and the two got into the discussion of whether Fox News is really a news station. The two banter back and forth until they get into the battle about Fox News.

Jon Stewart questioned the legitimacy of Fox News and that many of the “news” stories are in fact opinion stories.

O’Reilly claims that the opinion stories are clearly separate from the real news. O' Reilly said that his program is an opinion news program, as the words FOX NEWS flash at the bottom of his screen.

Stewart asks O' Reilly if he really thinks Fox News is really news programming, and O’Reilly says yes. Stewart begins to hold back his laughter. This story is hot because it just happened yesterday and because many people like to follow the battle of whether Fox News is or isn’t a news station.

Bill O’Reilly came to Salt Lake City in mid-November to give one of his monthly speeches that he performs around the country. O’Reilly spoke about President Obama, former Utah governor Jon Huntsman, and Mormons.

The first video below is the first part of Stewart’s interview with O’Reilly. The second video is CNN’s take on the interview.

I understand John Stewart's real last name is Leibowitz. I wonder why he changed it. His very existence is phony. I still don't get his popularity. He's a loudmouthed little punk. And that's not news.

The Joy Behar "Show: on CNN. Isn't CNN a "news" Network? Pot calling the kettle black. Behar is a total idiot!

You need to go back and rewatch the program. O'Reilly did not say his program was a news show. He distinctly said it was opinion.

How is possible that you got the main point completely wrong? I'm sure after watching the clip again, you will have the intellectual honesty to correct your error.

One is from Fox *News* the other is from *Comedy* Central. That the blogosphere can't seem to grasp the point being made that opinion pieces are being taken as news is frightening, yet unsurprising.

For those who have no clue what the point is, they have to listen a bit more closely to John simply because he was laying it out there, and he is correct about it. The fact of the matter is that his *job* is a comedian. What is Bill's job? Journalist or opinion writer? He's the one the respectable news network, but it's questionable how much news is actually done as opposed to spin (and that by the way, is irony)

Jayson is right, you need a fact checker. O'Reilly clearly said his program was an opinion program, I just watched the clip. How did you get your main point wrong? Poor reporting. People see what they want to see.

I think you guys need to READ the actual article. The author does say that O'Reilly said it is an opinion program, but the words FOX NEWS run across the screen, not that O'Reilly said it. You read what you want to read.

Are you kidding me? Calling OReilly a shill for the Republicans really? And Stewart isn't a socialist. Now is the time... Americans are mad and we're not going take it anymore. All Liberals should be hung as traitors to the country. You will not destroy America.

The reason why John changed his last name ( which is actually his middle name) is due to an estranged relationship with his birth father.
