Jon and Kate Gosselin were divorced in 2009 and between their paid interviews and reality television show they made a lot of money. But it seems that Jon failed to pay his fair share of taxes on his earnings. TMZ reported on Thursday, Jan. 10 that Jon has been hit with a $39,000 tax lien by the state of Pa.
Documents filed in Berks County, Pa. show that Jon failed to pay his taxes to the government in 2009, resulting in a massive tax bill.
Jon Gosselin, who along with then wife Kate Gosselin and their eight children were the darlings of TLC and their show “Jon and Kate Plus 8” was a ratings bonanza. When Jon and Kate split, Jon was cut out of the show and Kate went on to star in “Kate Plus 8.” The new show did not do as well, and was eventually cancelled. Kate Gosselin went on to do a sting on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” as well as a guest blogging gig with CouponCabin.com. Eventually Kate Gosselin and CouponCabin parted ways.
When Jon and Kate split, Jon Gosselin was ordered to pay $22,000 a month in child support for the couple’s eight children. Since Gosselin now works a “normal person job” and his attempts to return to reality television have failed, it does not seem likely that Gosselin will be able to pay the government $39,000 or his ex-wife $22,000 in child support.
