We haven't heard much about reality dad Jon Gosselin in awhile, but it seems that that relative peace and quiet is about to disappear. Gosselin is officially back on the collective media radar screen this week due to a $39,000 tax lien filed against him by the state of Pennsylvania for what we assume (but cannot confirm) are unpaid taxes.
The matter seems to stem from tax year 2009, the year he split up with then-wife and mom to his eight children, Kate Gosselin. (If that figure is just what he owes to the state, we don't even want to see his federal tax bill from 2009! Let's hope that one is taken care of.)
While Kate Gosselin was able to segue from "Jon & Kate Plus Eight" to "Kate Plus Eight" for awhile and at least extend her reality-celebrity ride far enough beyond her marriage to land "Dancing With The Stars", the Jon Gosselin tax lien suggests his exit from family life was not as smooth.
The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue says in documents obtained by TMZ that the Jon Gosselin tax lien amounts to $28,481 plus interest and fees, for a total of $39,106. Documents show that a determination of what was owed was made on April 13, 2012. The interest calculated extends through January 29, 2013, at which time additional interests and penalties would possibly apply.
The photo taken above shows Gosselin at the Launch Party for Virgin America's First Flight from Los Angeles to Philadelphia at the Hotel Palomar on April 4, 2012 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
