Jon Gosselin slams Kate for reality TV fame, signs on for VH1 reality show

Jon Gosselin says he “made a mistake” by allowing the lives of his eight children to be documented on a TLC reality show. In a December 27 interview with Philadelphia magazine, the former “Jon and Kate Plus 8” star slammed his ex-wife Kate Gosselin’s quest for reality TV fame, and criticized her for continuing to document their kids’ lives to the public.

“She tweets everything,” he told the magazine. “To the world, all about my children. I think it’s disgusting and awful. They can’t even have a normal life.”

But in January, Gosselin – who now works as a waiter and lives in a cabin in the Pennsylvania woods -- will appear on VH1’s “Couples Therapy” with his girlfriend, Liz Jannetta. Still, he doesn’t think he’s being hypocritical.

“I didn’t put out an open bid—this is something that just popped up,” he said, explaining that he signed on to the show to help his relationship with Liz, a 27-year old a single mom of three, whom he’s dated for two years. “We needed the therapy for our relationship. We really couldn’t afford therapy. And it’s free therapy.”

Earlier this year, Gosselin described his relationship with his ex-wife as non-existent and blamed reality TV for hurting his kids (twins Cara and Mady, 13, and 9-year-old sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel).

In an interview with “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” he said, “I saw my kids not growing up normally, the way I grew up. Yes, they got to travel the world, and yes, they got these fabulous things, and yes, they have trust funds … but developmentally, they have problems with their peers, and they have problems with talking to other people, and they have problems with wants and needs and manners and morals and what's right and what's wrong."

Still, as he slams Kate for still wanting to be on TV, he’s the one who’s inked the latest deal.

“Everyone thinks I’m out to get Kate,” he said. “What would I get out of it? … Kate wants to still be on television. She’s now digging into the past, because that’s what sells. Too late, honey.“

“Couples Therapy” Season 4 premieres on January 2 at 9:00 p.m. on VH1.
