Jon Gosselin has announced that he will be suing his ex-wife, Kate Gosselin, for full custody of their children.
In an interview with InTouch magazine, the former reality TV star stated that he plans to sue for primary custody of Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel and Leah, the couple’s nine-year-old sextuplets.
According to Jon, “[The kids] live in fear of Kate. Every time I see them, they tell me they want to live with me.” He also adds that he intends to file an emergency petition when he has the finances to cover the legal fees. “Regardless of what the judge decides, I have to at least try. I just wish Kate would wake up, realize how she’s behaving – and change her ways.”
The father of eight has been battling with his ex since their split in 2009 and claimed that the last straw was their 13-year-old twins’ appearance on the “Today” show. Mady and Cara appeared with Kate and remained silent for most of the interview as Savannah Guthrie made attempts to ask them about their lives after reality TV.
The interview brought media attention for being cringeworthy, as Kate attempted to save the day by telling her daughters to “spit it out.”
According to recent media reports, Jon waived his rights to control the kids’ television appearances in order to avoid making child support payments. However, several sources state that the judge overseeing the case told Jon that he no longer needed to make payments as he had provided more than enough prior to the hearing date.
Still, the twins were guests on “The View” on January 20, 2014 and opened up to the host, although still with slight hesitance, to discuss their parents’ divorce.
Jon alleges that the kids’ mother is using them to make money. Kate, for her part, denies that her children have any developmental or psychological issues.
