Kevin Kreider, Kate's younger brother, and Kreider's wife, Jodi Kreider, sat down with co-anchor Harry Smith on the Early Show to state “they're speaking out now because they think it's high-time for laws protecting children who appear in reality shows such as TLC's, Jon & Kate Plus 8.”
They say they want to be the "voice" of the Gosselin children. "We're speaking out now," Kevin stated they are speaking out now, "because we want to be the voice of our nieces and nephews. We're seeing it turn-tide, that they're being viewed as a commodity." Aunt Jody was not so gracious in her phrasing, "They're being exploited," she said emphatically. "It's time for America to see the situation for what it really is, which is -- unfortunately, there no laws protecting children in reality TV shows. And it's time for the public to be aware of this. And that these -- these children are very aware of the cameras in their homes. Their home is their workplace. And this is not a healthy environment for kids to be raised in.”
Jodi and Kevin were involved with the show from the beginning. "We thought it was very innocent at the time," Jodi stated. "And it -- the first season started, I think, eight episodes. And it quickly turned into more and more demands of Jon and Kate from the network, and turned into 40 episodes in a six-month span. ... There were cameras in the children's bedrooms at one point. And they were filming all year-round. These were very huge concerns for us." Monday’s premiere brought in nearly 10 million viewers, to put that in perspective just two years ago the show set records with nearly three million viewers.
Kevin ended the interview appearing extremely troubled and stated, "I do talk to Kate and Jon. We haven't seen the kids in awhile, which is hard. ... Our relationship has definitely been strained now. What we hope is that they will kind of come around, see the effects, see what's most important."

Aunt Jodi, didn't mind when the camera's were in her house?
Aunt Jodi! Please comb your hair. You're on tv!
How can you do this to your family. You are causing more harm than good. What you have just said now lives on the web and your neices and nephews that you claim to be so concerned about, will be very hurt by it. If you are concerned about your family, you need to talk to them. Don't at fuel to the fire by airing their dirty laundry to the public. Shame on you. You are EXPLOITING this situation!
Looking for your own five minutes of fame on the backs of your family? You both make me sick. The best thing you both can do is sit back and shut up. This family is falling apart; they don't need your "help". The law will help them figure out where they will go without your whining on national television.
DITTO to all above!!! I refuse to watch any show or video on which they appear. I believe it's another case money envy. All their bad mouthing of sister/sister in law began when they couldn't share in the money. --Because they weren't allowed to "exploit" the children.
Aunt Jodi & Uncle Kevin never said a word until Jon & Kate moved. I agree that Jodi and Kevin have a bad case of "money envy". Since the move, they are no longer on the show, so they don't get paid any more.
Keven and Jodi need to hush up and leave this family alone! It is obvious that the kids are not bothered by the cameras which are only around a few hours a week.
Aunt Jody, Uncle Kevin. Just watched this video don't understand why you would go on TV to discuss your sister's marriage. Get a life and stop being jealous of them... Just remember what goes around comes around.
Way to go brother kick them when theyre down- Wow what a family!!!
