Now that she is off "Dancing with the Stars," former "Jon and Kate Plus 8" star Kate Gosselin is now looking at other activities to try and occupy her time. For example, she and daughter Cara took part in the Girls on the Run 5K in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on Saturday.
One participant described what Kate was like (and how she finished) to Radar Online:
"There were several hundred runners, mostly parents with their kids...Kate frequently stopped running so that Cara could catch up with her. The Gosselin girls finished near the back of the pack."
A number of people also cheered Kate on from the sidelines during the race, and she waved to them politely as she continued to press on.

Yes I'm very proud of Kate!!!! I think this is wonderful. You all know that she could just sit on her butt and do nothing. She out there for HER kids. I can hardly wait to see the new show. Great Job Kate!

For Pete's Sake! Why is this even news? It must be an extremely slow day if you have to do an article on Kate Gosselin! This was no were even near a marathon. A marathon is 26 miles. This was maybe 3 miles. Yes, it is good she is out with ONE of her daughters for a little while, but isn't this woman OLD news by now?!!
While I have no pertinent opinion on Kate, her children, and her family issues, I want to chime in and say that this article totally misses the point of the Girls on the Run program, which stresses each participant's goal of crossing the finish line, without regard for the time and/or position with reference to the other runners. So let's celebrate the fact that a 9-year-old did a wonderful job of running/walking 3.1 miles! Wow! How many 9-year-olds (or even adults!) have completed this incredible goal?!?
She is in much better shape then her kids. No bodies train them. It means she spend more time take care for herself. Selfish.
For someone to print an article about a mother spending time with her children and then ask is this a good thing; goes to show how little time this woman spends with her children!
Looking for activities to do when you have eight children shouldn't be that difficult and certainly shouldn't make the news. But yet again, we are talking abut the media drama queen herself. Anything that will promote HER.
Marathon, no way. This was a leisurely walk in the park compared to a marathon.
This is the amount of time most parents spend with their children on a regular basis whether it be walking, riding bike, playing games, camping, going to the movies, etc. so find someone else to write about.
Obviously, some posters have never watched the show and have no idea what it is like to raise 8 kids. Kate and Jon both try to spend some quality time with smaller groups of the children or one on one with each child. some parents of larger broods dont do this...it is a mark of good parents. This was probably one of those scheduled times. Congrats Kate for keeping up with that! I think some of you just need to complain about something. oh and it is news because you make it news. if you dont care, why read...or comment?!?! Maybe you should spend some time with your kids instead of make nasty comments!

Puleeeease! Anywhere there's a crowd Kate will show up. Was her bodyguard following them? What about the rtest of the kids? Maddy especially needs the attention. On the show Maddy seemed like a very angry kid!

She always found time for her kids. Jon would take them out sie and do what it wanted mainly wacthing the the press so he could be on t.v what a loser. And she does take very good of her kid's and hersef.Put a picture up of yourself and you kids and let us judge you!!!!!! You will onot or you will make sure that it is a very nice one of each of you

If you are going to say that the time Jon is with his kids outside is so the media can film him, than what about Kate' time with them? We will agree to disagree on this one. The kids look like they have fun with Jon but are being punished and with forced smiles when with Kate.
Everyone's opinion of this family is only what the media presents to us and what we have heard them say or do from their own mouths or actions. And as the saying goes 'actions speak louder than words'. Kate is seen hitting a child on tape, refusing water to another, and the constant excuses to never be home.
The kids will tell all one day, just wait.
you kater haters plugging your nasty blogs need to get outside and get a life. Kate Gossselin is a wonderful mother You all are just jealous of her success. She is a star now, get over it people. She DOES take care of her kids, you have no right to comment about her as a a parent. So what if she has nannies, she IS providing for her kids!
A marathon is 26.2 miles(all the time, every time). She ran a 5K. Do your research!
I bet the TLC cameras were catching every second of it too...
