Maria Shriver's annual “The Women's Conference” has in previous years been a star studded, inspirational event; this year’s affair being no different will be held in October from the 26-27, in Long Beach, CA. Cindy McCain, Elizabeth Edwards, Jane Goodall, Katie Couric, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, actress Kelly Preston and Kate Gosselin are among a few of the featured speakers.
Maria Shriver invited Kate Gosselin at the suggestion of her two daughters who watch “Jon and Kate Plus 8.” Shriver stated to The Associated Press back in July, "I think her life has certainly changed dramatically, but so be it." "I think that's the beauty of this conference to have Madeleine Albright and Kate Gosselin at the same place."
Shriver described Kate Gosselin as "a real interesting girl," who is facing the challenge of raising eight children and coping with "a lost marriage."
According to “The Women’s Conference” website Kate Gosselin will be appearing on Monday, October 26th, at the “Night at The Village” the night before “The Women’s Conference.” There has not been an exact announcement in regards to the extent of what Kate Gosselins role at the event will be, however the site mentions:
“A main stage program and "stagettes" featuring inspirational talks from the country’s most sought after speakers. Speakers and book signings by an amazing list of best-selling authors including Candace Bushnell, Victoria Jackson, Caroline Kennedy, Sue Monk Kidd, Mario Lopez, Maria Shriver and many more.”

Promoting child exploiting?
This is the only thing this pimp knows. I am ashamed of the people that schelduled her for this conference. My group and are will not be attending this year. We've always made it a big deal and enjoy the smart and inspirational woman that speak at this conference. Not this year.
I think it's great that Kate will co-host on the View! I'd be really ticked though if they had pot-smoking, cheating Jon on there!!

I read a clever comment on another blog about this appearance of Kate at the Night of the Village. EVERY VILLAGE NEEDS AN IDIOT! So Maria found the perfect idiot to invite to fill the spot.
I'm sick of all the Kate bashing. I was annoyed with how she talked to Jon, but I can just imagine the stress she had raising all these kids.I always thought they should have gone to counseling to try to salvage this marriage.I wonder why they didn't.There's too much at stake here to just give up.And Jon really has to stop acting so immature. I don't blame him for getting away for awhile, but now it's time to get away from those irresponsible young party girls and go back home and fix this marriage.They can but they need help to do this.I love this family and wish them well. And when the nasty bloggers become perfect then they can talk!!!!!

There has been some confusion regarding Kate Gosselin's participation at this year's Conference. At Night at the Village on October 26th, Ms. Gosselin will be interviewed, along with other authors, and then will sign books. She will not be speaking on the main stage at The Women's Conference on October 27th.
This says she will NOT be a speaker.
How can you report that there has not been an exact announcement of Kate Gosselin's role at the Women's Conference? It was stated from the beginning. It's old news and you can't report it right?
Gosselin’s speaking role will be relatively minor. She will have 15 minutes on a small stage at a fair where she will be selling her book, “Eight Little Faces: A Mom’s Journey.”

Oh give it a rest. If you want to concentrate on children who are really abused, get off your computer and go volunteer somewhere. I'm so sick of hearing about the "abused" Gosselin kids! How about the thousands of children all over the world who die of disease or starvation EVERY DAY around the world. The Gosselins are just fine, if you don't like them, don't watch the show - simple as that. And remember, it IS just a show, it's not part of YOUR life, nor are the Gosselin kids.

A waste of time speaking out about 2 adults (in this case their 'parents') who have exploited these children from day one? I think shedding a light/speaking out on this IS being a concerned citizen and volunteering time to let the world know.Kate has been caught in so many lies about when to quit this train wreck they call a reality show. Her bottom line is $$$$ not the kids well-being. If it were...the show would end and the kids would have a normal life without their every move being filmed and shown to millions - THEY HAVE NO VOICE. How do you know the kids are fine? WHAT? Kate could NOT participate in a village. Look at her life since the beginning. Where's the extended family and friends. The few who did participate were cut out of the show when Kate realized they were upstaging her - Jodi, Beth and others. I would LOVE to hear their story.
Kate IS NOT RAISING THE KIDS ON HER OWN!!! PLEASE research the FACTS. Jon participates equally AND TLC PROVIDES baby sitters/nannies/personal assistants/body guards/chefs/housekeepers. Kate life is NOT TYPICAL of the every day woman raising multiples!
Its a shame the conference is helping to promote a woman who is abusive, self-centered, exploitive, and a dictator.
Maybe the village will create an intervention to help Kate.
FACTS don't lie. Kate bashing is not necessary, she does a good job on her own. FACTS are being documented in the episodes, her antics in public as reported by the every day person, her interviews on TV and in magazines.
What an insult to the other speakers. Kate Gosselin should not be admired or looked up to any way. The only thing inspirational with Kate. Is all woman should INSPIRE not to be like her. Maria Shriver should be more aware of the "crap" her kids watch on T.V.
Havin her attend will make any future conferences a waste of time. The true meaning will have bben destroyed...

ANYONE who intentionally decides to publicize their life by inviting people into their home via reality tv CHOOSE this lifestyle!! They make their money in the public's eye. They invite the world to praise and/or critize their lifestyle. Public figures don't get to choose how the public perceives them. Positive or negative, this is their reality.
If they want the madness to stop then they need to stop the show. Disappear for a while. Go into therapy and try to heal their relationship. Peace is a tumultuous relationship doesn't just happen, it takes commitment and love and forgiveness and a LOT of work.
The conference is about inspirational women who have made a difference in the world. Every time Kate appears in print or on tv, playing the victim, I feel nauseous.
She is NOT an inspirational woman who had multiples naturally and is living an ordinary life. Instead she INTENTIONALLY chose to impregnate herself with multiples. How is that inspirational? Perhaps she and octomom should become best friends. They have similar traits, BOTH seeking fame on the BACKS OF THEIR BABIES.
I want to listen to the inspirational stories of ALL the other women, excluding Kate. One of her books was co-authored by her friend, Beth. Where is Beth? Why doesn't Kate acknowledge that her book was written with BETH!?? That is typical of a narcissistic, egoistic, DISHONEST person.
Maybe the Village of Women could do an intervention for Kate. Or maybe not because it would not be under Kate's control. What a freak! AND SHE ADMITS IT!! You can only go so far with that, then you're alone because no one can tolerate freaky, control, maniacal behaviors.
Comment to mmc: We all hope in responding and writing our emails that someone in the network or who has pull in stopping this show will notice that people are sick of this family. They need to sell everything, hide and raise their children as 'normal' as they can now.
Being a pimp is nothing to be proud of or should she be given any time at this prestigious event no matter how small. Anyone who paid for a ticket should ask for full refund.
I am upset that you have chosen Kate to be a part of such great women. How could you stomp so low? I hear she will be promoting and signing her book in which she did not write and will not give the true author the proper credits. If this is what your conference is about I will not support it.

Madelaine Albright's husband left her and she continued her education and went on to great things, including Secretary of State.
Maybe if she had pimped her three daughters, she would not have had to stury so hard to make a buck to support her family.

The only good part about the show is seeing the sights, like the ranch. Could do without the Kate family.
Guess it is back to the Travel Channel or National Geographic in order to see the country, which I can't afford to personally visit. Would have to pimp my children for that.
