Jon and Kate Plus 8 must go on
One of the questions that came up during Jon and Kate's announcement of their divorce was, "What happens to Jon and Kate Plus 8?
The answer to that question was pretty obvious given that Jon and Kate decided to reveal an intimate moment not through a quiet written statement, but through a publicity stunt. Jon even lamented about how it was the "hardest episode ever" -- guess what, Jon, it didn't have to be an episode at all! Coupled with the fact that the tragic statement of the dissolution of their marriage was side-by-side with an infomercial for Crooked Houses (complete with the kids wearing t-shirts shilling for the company), and it's no surprise that Jon and Kate Plus 8 will continue.
And of course the TLC lawyers certainly had an influence.
On the continuation of the show, Jon said:
I'm still on the show, I guess, we interview separately, we'll film different things, me and the kids, her and the kids... It's day by day for me, I don't know what's going to happen, I could get offered a job, you know, that would change the whole schedule, I don't know.
Kate on the show:
How does the show go on, the show must go on? I will continue to be here, be with the kids, do the same things I've always done with them. I realize that Jon will probably not be a part of those, he may do his own thing.
While Jon and Kate may be contractually obligated to finish up Season 5, they're not on the hook to do a Season 6 -- it will be interesting to see if they sign up for that or not (or if TLC even offers it to them).

Dragging those children through a divorce on national TV is unconscionable. Anything we do to encourage it, including watching, only makes us part of what amounts to child abuse.
I understood that what was files in Berks County yesterday was legal separation with counseling papers. NOT DIVORCE PAPERS!!!!!. Why is everyone calling this a divorce? The quote was from People magazine. Did the ratings slide or what? Last pictures I saw of Jon Gosselin shows that he was still whereing his wedding band, if they were getting a divorce, would he be wearing it?

Zabrian...Her "job" and the set up with the kids is not the conventional way of doing things but then what is anymore. Society thinks NOTHING of leaving their kids with a bunch of strangers at all sorts of childcare and you all want to bitch because Kate has her kids on a tv show documenting their life. At least their parents are with them 24/7. You find fault with that but have no problem dropping kids off with a bunch of strangers... (during the most important hrs. of their day) Let me break it down for you. MANY moms have to work. The kids are much happier with their parents being there and the camera crew (They know and treat the kids well)than if they were shuttled off to daycare where some frusrtrated 18 yr. old is resentfully "taking care of them"! I have researched in person MANY facilities on the sneak and was appalled at what I saw. Supposedly, "the best". Plenty were a sham. Shelve the JEALOUSY. Your words speak for you. You could care less about the kids!

KATE MAY HAVE AN ATTITUDE PROBLEM BUT FROM WHAT I HVE SEEN IS THAT SHE SPENDS THE MONEY YOU AMERICANS TALK SO MUCH ABOUT ON HER KIDS. sO WHAT U EXPECT. Jon and Kate are both good parents to their children...However, kate's ego got too big for even jon to handle.. lookin back to the past episodes, she has always been a witch to him.. even her xbf says she was a controlling freak when they were engaged. i hope that the rumors on both parties are false... but yeayy for jon for finally speaking up. he would have done it sooner, had it not been for the kids. i dont see how he put up with it that long. had he not, they would have been divorced a longggggggggg time ago. the show has been haulted until august, other than a few recent clips to premeir next monday. after that, i'd like to see it end...for the kid's sake. then, we will see how kate handles fading from the lime light .. not to mention alot of sponsors dropping their free ride. they will no longer be able to live the "good life" like the rest of us who need to work REAL jobs every day to support our families. SHe's loving the life of wearing designer clothes, sunglasses and daily spas now...but i cant wait to see what shes like with 8 kids once the show ends and reality hits. Can u say FOOD STAMPS and WELFARE?
Oh and for the record, in reply to a previous comment... Jon is/was a computer tech. I am sure he made a decent salary before the show...which was Kate's idea (of course) started.
It's too bad they didnt stand by their quote at the beginning of the show (which has since been edited/cut) "We're a family, and we're in this together... "It might be a crazy life...but it's our life"
To Kateneedsarealitycheck...Kate's pretty thrifty and if you can add the monies they have made thus far it will more than take care of them and there's PLENTY moe $$$ to come as a result of book deals, signed tlc contract @ reportedly $75,000.00 a pop, etc. soooooooooooooo get over 'wishing" ill will on her as far as financial security goes. I think if we have learned anything about Kate it is her "desperation" to take care of her family...and SHE will. BTW Jon did not make crap at his job...the church and everybody and their grandpa was having to pitch in, not to mention ,Kate had to work double shifts,too as a nurse on weekends.
