Join the walking dead at the eighth annual Portland Zombie Walk, 3 pm, Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013. The walk will be from the OMSI Overflow Parking area underneath the Hawthorne Bridge at SE Water and Madison.
Support the event by buying a $5 2013 Zombie Walk bracelet. Bring two non-perishable food items as a suggested donation. Zombie Walk t-shirts will also be available for $20. This is a family-friendly event. The walk is 1.3 miles long.
People and zombies can devour Voodoo Doughnuts and Frankenstein franks, for sale at the start. Biting other zombies or survivors is strictly prohibited.
At 3:30 the zombies can join in a silent rendition of the Thriller dance and pose for photos at 4 pm. Then they will shuffle their way to OMSI for the Thriller dance with audio at 4:15 pm.
The rules state that you should act as slow zombies rather than fast zombies, except when crossing the street. Zombies and survivors will stay on the sidewalks and obey the crossing signals. They also are cautioned not to unduly frighten the public. Zombie Walk Rules
Zombies will then walk to Guardian Games at MLK and Taylor for The Denton Delinquents Rocky Horror performance.
The walk ends at 6 pm at The Analog at 720 SE Hawthorne with an after party and suggested donation of $5 or two cans of non-perishable food for the Portland Sunshine Division. You can stay to watch the season premiere of The Walking Dead at 9 pm. This is an all-ages party.
