Listen up movie lovers, you may merely think you know all about the films and people nominated for Academy Awards, this year.
To get the real scoop, first you should check your pc or mobile device January 25 for "Road to the Oscars®" at 5:30 a.m. Pacific Time.
Right, it’s before breakfast if you live on the West Coast but not if in Chicago or the elsewhere in the Midwest and you want to catch segments 2010 movies and information on the Oscar ® ceremony February 27.The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is doing a webcast on nominations morning that starts with film clips and trends.
Then it switches to the Samuel Goldwyn Theater where Academy President Tom Sherak and Best Supporting Actress Mo’Nique will list nominees in these categories: Best Picture, Director, Leading Actor, Leading Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Adapted Screenplay, Original Screenplay, Animated Feature Film and Foreign Language Film.
Before the nomination announcement, ABC’s “The Bachelor” host Chris Harrison will show and talk about 2010 movies. Harrison and Entertainment Weekly senior writer Dave Karger will also discuss movie trends and how they might influence the nominations. They will follow-up the announcement with a discussion about this year’s nominees.
Watch the discussion and announcement at Oscar.com, Oscars.org, Facebook.com/TheAcademy and Livestream.com/AcademyAwards. Some television stations and networks will broadcast the announcement live but the pre and post nomination discussions are just on online and on mobile devices.
Secondly, hear what Chicago Tribune film critic Michael Phillips and an expert panel he is hosting have to say about the nominations at “Gold Bald Men and the Actors Who Love Them.” The Gold Bald Men” event is 8 p.m. February 3 at the Chicago Theatre’s intimate Downstairs venue.
Phillips will be joined by Adam Kempenaar and Matty Robinson of Filmspotting, a WBEZ (91.5 FM) radio show and podcast that does TV and Film reviews and interviews. Also on the panel are Nathan Rabinand Tasha Robinsonfrom The Onion’s AV Club that covers arts and entertainment.

I love the awards shows. “Gold Bald Men and the Actors Who Love Them,” sounds like a great talk - wish I could go.
I am so out of touch with today's movies. In the past it wasn't unusual for me to have seen all the movies nominated for Best Picture. Nowadays I'm lucky to have seen one.
