Teco Theatrical Productions, a mainstay in the Bishop Arts Theatre district, opens its 11th Annual New Play Competition tonight with a preview of 6 new play shorts by Dallas/Fort Worth based playwrights all in contention for a chance to win $1,000 cash and bragging rights for the entire year!
Facilitated by Will Power, Southern Methodist University/Meadows Artist-In-Residence and Meadows Prize Winner who was involved in the selection process with a group of readers, this year’s finalists are: Theophany, or The Tree in the Living Room by Antay Bilgutay; Steel Bird by Victor Bravo; Amaryllis by Ruth Cantrell; The Red Dress by Isabella Russell-Ides; Pious by Kyndal Robertson & Camika Spencer; and The Dog Play - Cookie and Buster by W. R. Maxwell.
All six plays are staged each night with no show lasting longer than 20 minutes and the top production is selected by audience vote. At the final performance, votes are tallied and a winner is crowned.
The competition runs from Mar. 6 - 10, 2013 and contains some adult adult. For more information and to purchase tickets, please call the Bishop Arts Theatre Center box office at 214-948-0716. All seats are $15 in advance and $20 at the door plus a nominal processing fee.
Seating is general admission and showtimes are at 3 pm & 7:30 pm. Inquire about group rates when calling the box office. All sales are final with no refunds or exchanges.
