On Saturday, March 15 at 6:00 p.m., musicians and other young leaders from Generation Y are banding together with mentors at this concert for a common goal; ban cancer! The BAN CANCER concert begins at 6:00 p.m. at Esplanade Park, and is sponsored by the Richard J. Fox Foundation in conjunction with Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale, Inc.
"Members of Generation Y view their work as a key part of life, not as a separate activity that needs to be balanced. They put a strong emphasis on finding work that is personally fulfilling and want to connect to a larger
purpose," stated Cristina M. Hudson of Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale. "In fact, 86% of Gen Y workers say it’s important that their work make a positive impact on the world. Our young musicians and leaders have connected to our mission to educate the public and spread awareness about both prostate and pancreatic cancer."
The BAN CANCER concert lineup merges the Baby Boomer generation with musicians from Gen Y in order to promote reciprocal mentoring relationships between younger bands and veteran musicians such as Terry Wollman and Roberto Perera. These mentors provide greater access to knowledge and collaborative networks and help their mentees tap diverse areas of expertise.
