Join us for the fastest-growing family Christmas event in the southwest. Celebrating health, fitness and the joy of Christmas, the 12k’s of Christmas offers something for the whole family - Christmas Caroling and performances in the park, and a Christmas Bazaar with hand-made Christmas crafts, Santa’s Pet Village with over 30 local pet adoption groups, free bouncy for the kids, and three run/walks that reach out to every age and ability.
What: 12k’s of Christmas
Where: Freestone District Park, 1045 E. Juniper Road, Gilbert AZ 85233
When: Saturday December 10, 2011 – 8 am to 2 pm
The 12k and 6k run/walks feature Christmas Carolers at every “k” – local school children and youth performing groups. Medals are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in all age divisions, plus gifts for the best “Christmas-themed” running outfits, most Christmas spirit and cutest pet! Everyone receives a Santa Hat and there are Collectible finisher’s pins for all.
Families and youngsters love the 1.2k distance, entering teams of 4 to run, walk or just enjoy an outing on a sunny December day! It’s not unusual to see Santa & Mrs. Claus, a family of Grinches, the Three Wise Men, or dad pulling a sled full of little Reindeer! Santa Paw’s has lots of gifts under the tree for the Best Decorated Entry and the most Christmas Spirit. We never know what our creative guests will come up with!
FREE to spectators. Fee for participation in the run/walk events; a portion of which benefits Maricopa County Animal Care & Control and Phoenix Animal Care Coalition (PACC911).
