Join my Family at Centennial Olympic Park for the July 4th Celebrations

My son is a big fan of Centennial Olympic Park, so on Friday July 4th, our family will not only celebrate the birth of our nation, but we are celebrating our family moving one step closer to insuring that we achieve financial independence to achieve that American Dream.   So join us as we celebrate the 4thof July at Centennial Olympic Park starting at 4pm.

On Friday, I wrote a blog called “What do I tell my son about the meaning of July 4th, Independence Day?” That blog was inspired from reading many social network threads of African Americans who were asking why “we” as African Americans celebrate this holiday when Independence Day wasn’t one intended for “us.”  My blog also includes excerpts from Frederick Douglass’s speech he delivered on July 5, 1852 in New York. "The Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro," a speech I read in college and one that was very well written. (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/aia/part4/4h2927t.html)  My 7 year old son will be taught the reason for the season, the good with the bad, and he will also be taught that since then many Americans, black and white have fought and died for our freedom and our independence, so our celebration should not be in vain. Now back to the celebration.
