This weekend's Boulder Writers' Workshop Literary Salon will be hosted by non other than the group's founder, Lori DeBoer. Here are the details:
Boulder-based author, freelance journalist and writing coach Lori DeBoer will open tomorrow's salon by reading from her short story, "All the Love in the World." Published in the Spring 2013 issue of Bellevue Literary Review (Dept. Medicine, NYU Langone Med. Center) this story was shortlisted for the Bellevue Literary Prize judged by Jane Smiley.
After the reading, DeBoer will host a discussion on literary topics including but by no means limited to writing from real life and revising with a purpose. These discussions tend toward an open format, welcoming input from all participants. If there's a particular subject you'd like to explore, don't be shy about putting them out there.
Undecided? Check out Laura Lauda's notes on the July 13 Literary Salon, which was hosted by Kim Lajevardi. Lajevardi began by reading from her book Silent Witnesses, then opened the discussion with the topic of writing from multiple points of view. From there the conversation turned toward other facets of characterization before coming back around to the topic of Lajevardi's own writing process.
