One of the more highly anticipated films of the early days of 2014 is Jason Reitman's "Labor Day", starring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin. To celebrate the film's release, the author of the best-selling book on which the film is based, Joyce Maynard, will be in Kansas City this week to sit down with fans and talk about the book at a special luncheon being held at Lidia's in Kansas City, Mo on Wednesday, January 22, 2014.
The luncheon is sponsored by the Kansas City Women if Film and Television (KCWIFT) and will allow fans to sit down with Joyce and enjoy a relaxed conversation and a delicious meal, while chatting about the author's many loves, which include baking delicious apple pies.
The three course mean will include Lidia's Signature Caesar Salad, a second course with an option of either the signature Pasta Trio of the day Or Pollo al Limone or Scallopine of Chicken Breast with Roasted Lemon, Caper and Olive. A delectable dessert will round out the meal.

Directed by Jason Reitman (Up in the Air, Juno), “Labor Day” tells the story of 13-year-old Henry Wheeler, who is struggling to be the man of his house and care for his reclusive mother, Adele (Winslet). While shopping, Henry and his mother meet Frank Chambers (Brolin), a man both intimidating and clearly in need of help, who convinces them to take him into their home and later is revealed to be an escaped convict. The events of this long Labor Day weekend will shape them for the rest of their lives.
"Labor Day" hits Kansas City theatres on Jan. 31. For more information on the movie, head over to the film's Facebook page, Facebook.com/LaborDayMovie.
