Join Canada College Fashion Dept. for a Curriculum Lunch March 12

Are you looking for an opportunity to improve your sewing, pattern-making, or fashion design skills? Would you like to learn more about how “the pros” make and design garments? One option is to take formal courses in your areas of interest. The Bay Area has several groups that offer sewing and design classes, but Canada College, located in Redwood City, is one of the few that offers college credit, degrees and certificates.

The Canada College Fashion Department will be hosting their semi-annual Curriculum Lunch on March 12, 2013. This is an opportunity to find out more about the Fashion Department and the courses they are offering, specifically the courses planned for this summer and fall. You do not have to be a degree-seeking student to take fashion courses, but you can also find out about the various degrees and certificates available in the program, which include a degree in fashion design, or certificates in custom dressmaking, theater costuming, and fashion merchandising.

The department plans to have staff on hand to allow you to sign up for an appointment to enroll in upcoming classes. If you are interested in attending the Curriculum Lunch, RSVP to Ronda Chaney, department chair, via email at chaney@smccd.edu. Too much fabric? Too many sewing patterns? Is there even such a thing - I don't think so! I love to make clothes, think and talk about making clothes, and visit Bay Area shops and stores for inspiration and get more fabric and patterns! Join me and find out more about the San Francisco sewing scene.
