Seven Springs Mountain Resort has been battling the weather like all of our local ski resorts this year. Recently, some additional snowfall has aided them in winning the battle. And it comes just in time for the big annual celebration.
This weekend is the beginning of Seven Springs’ Winterfest. The cooperative effort with Pittsburgh’s WTAE-TV Channel 4 is celebrating its twenty-fifth year. The activities begin Friday, February 17, 2012 and last throughout the weekend and end next weekend. There are a variety of activities in the snow and on the slopes. The event also includes live entertainment, family activities, and many more activities for the entire family.
During the event, you will have the chance to meet many of the personalities from WTAE-TV. There are live news broadcasts from Seven Springs throughout the weekends. Friday and Saturday nights the kids can enjoy Story Time with various personalities. There are tubing sessions throughout the day on Saturdays and Sundays with WTAE-TV staff. There are also a few special events with WTAE-TV personalities throughout the week. For a full list of events, check out the schedule online. In addition there are daily movies for the kids and some evening movies for adults. Here are some daily activities of note. Please check the schedule for more details as some activities may require reservations.
Friday, February 17
- 8:00 pm - Story Time with WTAE Channel 4's Michelle Wright, Janelle Hall and John Meyer
Saturday, February 18
- 9:00 am - Snow Tubing with the stars. Join the stars of WTAE-TV in two hour snow tubing sessions. However, during the 9:00 am session you will be tubing with Pittsburgh Steelers Brett Keisel, Chris Hoke and Jeff Hartings.
- 2:00 pm – Take a beginner’s lesson with Janelle Hall of WTAE-TV.
- 3:00 pm – It’s time for bowling with Andrew Stockey of WTAE-TV.
Sunday, February 19
- 10:00 am – Shoot sporting clays with WTAE-TV’s Sally Wiggin.
- 11:00 am – Snow tubing with the WTAE-TV stars. (Also at 1:00 pm)
Monday, February 20
- 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm – Roller Skating Party. $4 per person includes skate rental.
Tuesday, February 21
- 3:00 pm – Tiny Tots’ Mini Star Race for children enrolled in Tiny Tots’ for the day.
- 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm – Tube-a-polooza. 4 hours of tubing for $22 per person.
Wednesday, February 22
- 10:00 am, Noon, and 2:00 pm – Learn to ski and snowboard for $30. Price includes limited lift ticket, rental equipment, and beginner’s lesson.
Thursday, February 23
- 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Prime Rib Thursday at the Sporting Clays. $50 gets you 100 shots with your own equipment and dinner
Friday, February 24
- 3:00 pm – Tiny Tots, Mini Star Race for children enrolled in Tiny Tots’ for the day.
- 7:00 pm – Torchlight Parade down Stowe Slope
Saturday, February 25
- 8:30 am to 1:00 pm – Take your parents to the park, the terrain park. Bring your parents out to watch your moves at Santa’s Beard. Register at Willi’s Ski and Board Shop from 8:30 am until 9:30 am.
- 11:00 am - Snow Tubing with the stars. Join the stars of WTAE-TV in two hour snow tubing sessions.
- 11:00 am – Shoot sporting clays with WTAE-TV’s Jim Parsons.
- Noon – Eastern Snowboard League Rail Jam on The Streets. Registration from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in the Foggy Goggle.
- 2:00 pm – Take a beginner’s lesson with Janelle Hall of WTAE-TV.
Sunday, February 26
- 11:00 am – Snow tubing with the WTAE-TV stars. (Also at 1:00 pm)
