Spring is beginning to move closer. The snow is still falling, but it melts quickly. It won’t be long, flowers will begin to poke their heads up, and trees will begin to sprout leaves. The winter is fading fast and our local ski resorts are approaching the end of the season. Mystic Mountain at Nemacolin Woodlands closed for the season after last weekend. Several others have announced their closing dates while others have started their spring hours.
The good news is that these are the times for some of the best deals of the year. The springtime is the best time to purchase your season pass for next year. Many resorts offer major savings on season passes. In addition, several of the local resorts will allow you to use your season pass for next year, for the rest of this season also. You may find that even the single day lift tickets will be available at a greatly reduced price. In addition, you may find specials on lodging, rentals, and possibly lessons at some resorts. So get out and take advantage of the savings before the resorts close down for the year.
Tussey Mountain has announced that they will be closing down after this weekend. They will open on Friday at 4:00 p.m. and stay open until 10:00 p.m. They will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. In addition, the snow tubing park will be open this weekend. One special going on is $17 lift ticket day on Sunday. All lift tickets and snow tubing is $17 per person. They are also holding a pre-season sale on 2014 season passes. Their lowest prices of the year will remain in effect until March 31.
Also announcing that they will be closing on Sunday, March 17 is Whitetail Resort. They will be open normal hours Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, they will be closing at 5:00 p.m. They will continue their 2013-2014 season pass sale through April 1.
Blue Knob Resort has announced that the last day for the 2012-2013 season will be next Sunday, March 24. They will be open this weekend 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Friday, 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday. They will be closed from Monday through Thursday next week, reopening on Friday, March 22 for the final weekend. Next weekend’s hours will be the same as this weekend. They will continue their March Madness Sale through closing day. You can save 50% on lift tickets, rentals, lessons, and lodging. In addition, their 2013-2014 season pass sale continues through March 31.
Hidden Valley has not announced their closing date at this time. They are open 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. They have not announced their hours for dates after Sunday, March 17. Snow tubing at Hidden Valley is now closed for the season. Hidden Valley continues their season pass sale through April 30.
Seven Springs has not announced their closing date at this time. They will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. During the week of March 18 through 21 the slopes will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. They have not announced hours of operation for dates after March 21. They have announced that they will be closing down The Spot and the Halfpipe for the remainder of the season after Sunday.
So get out there and enjoy the slopes before the season is gone.
