McKinney, TX - On a record high temperature morning it was the athletes in the Cooper Summer Sprint Triathlon who put a burn on the pavement.
The race consisted of a 350-meter outdoor pool swim, a 12-mile bike, and 5-kilometer run over a flat course through the Craig Ranch community.
The Johnson family dominates the race.
Tyler Johnson, 30, of Dallas, strung together three consistently smooth events to take the overall win in 53 minutes, 8 seconds. David Millwee, 44, of McKinney finished second in 54:15 and David Balis, 46, of Plano took third place in 54:40.
Meanwhile, in the ladies' division Ashley Johnson (wife of the overall winner), 31, of Dallas, crossed the finish line first in a time of 55:30. Joan Stepler, 48, of Mckinney finished second in 1:01:51 and Meredith Gardner, 28, of Austin finished third in a time of 1:02:41.
