Tomorrow, Thursday Feb. 13, 2014 the legendary Johnny Winter will perform at, appropriately enough Buddy Guy’s Legends. Johnny Winter is alive and well and experiencing somewhat of a career revival. Helped by the guidance of guitarist Paul Nelson, Johnny is physically doing a lot better. After being ripped off by his former manager for years as well as keeping him medicated, Johnny has emerged from the haze. Johnny has been busy lately. He has a new box set that has just come out. He has the live bootleg series that is up to volume 8. There is a live DVD from Japan. He recently recorded an album called Roots. He appeared on David Letterman. He has done guest appearances for other artists including Joe Louis Walker’s “Blues Conspiracy”. There were appearances scheduled on recordings by Sly Stone and William Shatner. Yes, that would be Captain Kirk. Plus, a full tour schedule. The show is scheduled for 8:00. Matt Hendricks will play a free acoustic set from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The cost of the show is $35.00. The show is general admission and seating is not guaranteed. Paul Nelson will be giving a master class from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. This includes instruction on chords, scales, theory and blending blues, rock and other styles successfully. Bring your guitar. Cost of Paul’s event is $40.00 and does not get you into Johnny’s show.
