Johnny Weir goes fishing? Wears mink coat on Black Sea excursion

Johnny Weir got some time off during the commentary for the Olympic figure skating competition to do what most commentators don’t experience in Sochi. That’s right he went fishing in the Black Sea with Billy Bush at the Winter Olympics. Technically he might be the only figure skater on the shores out fishing, but as fans watched he gave a quick lesson in catching fish. According to the Today show on Thursday he hadfashionable attire, which included a full length mink coat, and headed out to the waters.

Giving people an idea of Johnny Weir’s fishing skills, viewers were impressed that he was able to get the line into the water and catch a fish. Weir’s figure skating skills are off the charts, so when it comes to fishing it’s fair to say nobody even thought about Weir’s talent.

While fashion is always a big deal to Johnny Weir, he raised eyebrows on the mink coat. It was big and bulky and looked quite warm. People kept hoping it was faux fur or otherwise there would be questions on how many minks was skinned for Weir’s warming pleasure.

If there was a medal for fashion at the Sochi Olympics it would go to Johnny Weir. He has every day planned and his outfits snap. Well, almost all of the outfits. Everyone’s still waiting to hear if that mink coat was fake fur.
