Mr. Mathis has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame two times so far and earned the 2003 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Johnny’s voice has been used in countless Hollywood movies for theme songs, background music and to enhance a particular setting or segment. He has also sung beautiful and romantic ballads, classic standards, and the best songs from Broadway musicals.

Johnny joined Columbia Records in 1956, touted as a “…phenomenal nineteen year-old boy who could go all the way…” by his A&R representative, George Avakian. Since that time, Mathis has had over 75 Top 40 hits spanning across four decades, one of only five recording artists to hold this honor! “Wonderful, Wonderful” and “It’s Not For Me To Say” reached their peaks on the Billboard Pop Chart in July of 1957. These successes were followed by the monumental single “Chances Are” which became Johnny’s first #1 hit.

Gary Mule Deer will make a special guest appearance during Johnny Mathis’ performance in Jacksonville. In addition to Gary’s iconic comedy, he is a talented singer and musician and has been performing the music of Johnny Cash in his show for over 40 years. Gary has performed on every major concert stage in the country and has made over 350 television appearances, including many on both The Tonight Show and The Late Show with David Letterman. He was one of six comedians, along with Jay Leno, to star on the first HBO Comedy Special and appeared on a series of Steve Martin specials. Gary was the Comedy Host of Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert for four years on NBC, a frequent judge on The Gong Show, and a series regular on Make Me Laugh. He is currently featured on the DVDs “Jeff Foxworthy’s Comedy Classics” and “The World’s Greatest Stand-up Comedy Collection.”

Bob Goen of Entertainment Tonight said of Gary Mule Deer, “This guy has got to be the funniest man on the planet.” For five decades, Gary has entertained regularly in Las Vegas, Reno, Lake Tahoe, Atlantic City and casino/resorts across the U.S.
