Johnny Manziel and the rest of the quarterbacks ran their 40 yard dash on Sunday at the NFL combine. According to Yahoo Sports, Manziel had a respectable time and his 4.56 was comparable to Russell Wilson’s 4.55 time during his combine workout.
Obviously, speed is not the major component for NFL scouts when they are studying quarterbacks, but when someone that has Johnny Manziel’s escape ability, he had to show great speed for an NFL quarterback.
Overall, Johnny fit right in with Colin Kaepernick, who was in the 4.5 range.
While Manziel will workout for the scouts, he has decided not to throw at the combine. All interested parties will have to take the trip to Texas A&M on March 27, and watch him perform with receivers he is comfortable with.
Most of the quarterback draft prospects ran the 40 yard dash, but Teddy Bridgewater did not. Maybe Bridgewater feels he's the best quarterback in the draft and doesn't need to run the dash at this point in time. Blake Bortles had a best time of 4.81, Alabama fan favorite, A.J. McCarron clocked in at 4.91
