When asked about his intentions to enter the NFL draft on Wednesday, Johnny Manziel didn’t give any indication of his final plans. While Manziel feels that he’s ready to play in the NFL, according to the Star-Telegram, he will seek advise from other sources before making his final decision.
Although most people assume that the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner will make the leap into the big leagues, he could use some more seasoning in the college game. Johnny Manziel has accomplished a lot in his two seasons on the field, including a highlight filled, and award winning freshman year. However, Johnny Manziel has two years of eligibility left.
Currently, Johnny Manziel is one of the six football players invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony on Saturday. He’s also a finalist for the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award. The winner will be presented during the Thursday night Home Depot College Football awards show.
Johnny Manziel did show marked improvement during the 2013 season. He completed 69 percent of his passes during the (8-4) season, but it was the losses that will probably stick with him the most.
No matter what Johnny Manziel decides to do, he’ll have plenty of doubters to prove wrong.
In case Johnny Manziel does decide to go the pro route, you can catch Texas A&M playing Duke in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Tuesday Dec. 31. Hopefully Johnny Football can provide the fireworks that college football fans love to see.
