Johnny Winter will play the stage at Toad’s Place in New Haven Friday January 20th, doors opening at 7pm and Johnny scheduled to take the stage at 8pm--http://www.toadsplace.com/wp/shows/6846. We had the chance to see Johnny in concert at the Daniel Street Café before that venue’s recent demise, back in June and his performance was awesome. The week before the concert we had the chance to interview the two time Grammy winner (for his work with legend Muddy Waters) and speak with his bandmates immediately prior to that show, and their affection for Johnny and his improving health was evident. We salute Johnny and his band, and recommend the show highly to all.
A rare treat indeed for CT residents is the opportunity to see Johnny’s brother perform instate exactly one week later, on January 27th at the Ridgefield Playhouse--http://www.empiretickets.com/concerts/edgar_winter_tickets.asp?StateTickets=CT, where Edgar will be onstage doing a show with Rick Derringer. Johnny is based on the East Coast and Edgar on the West, so the two don’t get to spend as much time together as Johnny would like, and the chance to see the two of them perform in such a short space of time is unusual and should be an awesome opportunity, one this reviewer is hoping certainly not to miss.
