Watch out Robert Pattinson (Twilight) and Ian Somerhalder (Vampire Diaries) the worlds hottest vampire spot is now up for even more debate with Johnny Depp onboard to play Barnabas Collins in the new movie "Dark Shadows" based on the 1960's daytime soap opera.
Depp apparently has had a deep desire to play Barnabas Collins and I confess to having a deep desire to see Johnny Depp as a vampire! It will be another Tim Burton - Johnny Depp adaptation and it's slated to be epic!
Seth Grahame-Smith will be writing the draft of the "Dark Shadows" movie which will begin filming in April 2011.
Dark Shadows ran on ABC from 1966 - 1971 and was quite ambitious for that time in the daytime TV slot. However apparently it was just what the bored housewives wanted lasting for 6 years. Barnabas Collins the lead vampire was played by Jonathan Frid and was frightening indeed in the role. Warner Bros. has been itching to do a movie adaptation of "Dark Shadows" for years and purchased the film rights to the TV series from the estate of Dan Curts (the original creator, producer and director of "Dark Shadows"). Tim Burton's version is likely to be quite different with writers John August and Seth Gram-Smith who was chosen on the basis of his novel Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

I'm not into the whole vampire/Twilight thing but I must say that Depp is waaaayyy hotter than Pattinson! I would definitely see Dark Shadows. The duo of Burton and Depp is always an awesome one, to say the least.
This is what I'm thinking too. Pattinson was NOT my ideal to play Edward Cullen.... Johnny Depp is MUCH more the vampire Stephenie Meyer had in mind..lol

I remember watching Dark Shadows with my cousins when I was little. A remake of the daytime series for night-time viewing is exciting. Tim Burton directing is perfect and there can never be a hotter vampire than Johnny Depp!

ofcourse johnny depp is the hottest and the most attractive of the above mentioned actors , but the bets thing about him is that i know for sure that he ll be adding something to the role of a vampire that will fascinate us even more ...he is simply the best actor that ever lived with charms and looks that can melt a womans heart even if she does not give a damn about vampires !

I have been a member of "Team Barnabas" for more years than I care to admit. I think Johnny Depp is an excellent choice to play Barnabas Collins. Is there going to be a Quentin Collins? That role started a few years into the show, but it was a great character. Of course, it could end up a series of movies like "Twilight" or "Harry Potter", then they could really get into it!
