Even though there has been a lot of negative feeback on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, it has still absolutely destroyed the box office which is a guarantee that another film is on the way. Not that star Johnny Depp really needs it though as TheWrap has learned his haul so far has been a veritable pirate's treasure.
It is being reported that Depp has earned close to $350 million so far from the four films that have come forth in the Disney franchise. The studio though is claiming this sum to be "highly inaccurate" and wouldn't give any further details.
Another source said that Depp's take was closer to $280 million which is considerably less, but not a small sum to say the least.
Needless of Depp's wages, Pirates 4 broke the billion dollar barrier worldwide and that leads the way for a fifth film in which it is said that Depp is awfully close to signing a deal for. It was actually reported in February that a fifth film was already being scripted which was certainly to be expected.
If Disney will still go through with filming Pirates 5 and 6 back to back as originally thought remains to be seen, but the possibility it still there. That is how the second and third films were shot.
Those in New Orleans will be able to pre-order their tickets and find showtimes for the fifth Pirates film in a few years of course, but check the link as the fourth film may still be showing in your area. Head out to your nearest theatre as it could be at Chalmette Movies, The Palace at Elmwood, and The Palace at Clearview.
