Johnny Depp could be set to become the next Doctor in Doctor Who. According to a few internet sources, the hit British sci-fi series is going to be released as a film in 2012, with Depp as the lead.
A movie version would include journeys through space and time (of course), battles with aliens, and likely one very fancy TARDIS.
Depp is currently living in Europe, but he's still an American expat, leaving room for the hoards of international Doctor fans to be upset about the casting of a Yank.
There's been no comment from Depp about the role, and his IMDB profile doesn't have any information either, so remember to take your grain of salt with this one.
