As part of the ongoing celebration of GNU's 30th anniversary, the Executive Director of the Free Software Foundation, John Sullivan, has been invited, by the April Association, to give an Open World Forum keynote address, today Thursday, October 3, titled, "What do you mean you can't Skype" that will include an introduction to the cloud track.
The Open World Forum, which will be held October 3-5, bills itself as "The first free and open source european forum." Speakers will include luminaries from around the Free Software universe talking about various topics from Microsoft's involvement in Free Software to online learning to cloud computing. The conference is divided into three segments:
- THINK which focuses on free software policy making and strategy
- CODE will discuss tactics for leveraging free software programs
- EXPERIMENT a section that allows attendees to test and evaluate Free Software
The Free Software Foundation is an organization, founded by Richard Stallman, that advocates on behalf of software users to ensure that their rights and freedoms are protected. It also raises funds which it disburses to Free Software projects, particularly those associated with the GNU System.
Attendance at the Forum is free but you must register in advance.
