John Skelton’s poem “The Dumpster” about a child dying alone in the trash

He was nude from the top up, wrapped only in a straight jacket that revealed the long tattoo that dominated the length of his back, but John Skelton was anything but bare verbally in court.

John Skelton has bared his soul before, however, according to My Fox Detroit, which reported the Michigan father of three missing little boys wrote a poem in 2007 entitled, “The Dumpster.”

Missing Michigan boys in dumpster?

The Dumpster, which is the last place a dying boy ends up in John Skelton’s poem, is hitting close to home with some bystanders who feel the father of Tanner (5), Alexander (7) and Andrew (9) might just have sought such a place for his missing sons. In fact, one such person believes they are probably in a dumpster at a truck stop John frequented as a long-haul driver.

The Michigan father would be very familiar with dumpster schedules and dump accessibility, as well as the best hours to make a “drop” in one.

In the article, "John Skelton confesses to FBI of killing sons," the idea is posited that FBI profilers had undoubtedly searched truck stops on John's former route for such a potential.

FBI interrogators have definitely been doing their job, working their craft and determining that John Skelton’s little boys have met a terrible end.  According to the Morenci Police Chief Larry Weeks, doubt about the children’s safe return had been made known.

FBI gets confession out of John Skelton

According to WTVB, reports surfaced that the FBI was able to gain a confession of guilt from Skelton but they just don’t have enough solid information to locate the children. My Fox Detroit reported on Dec. 1 that John Skelton told the FBI he had put his children in a dumpster.

John Skelton seems to be playing a game now with law enforcement—if he hasn’t been all along, potentially faking his alleged suicide. He gives them just enough information to support his guilt, but not enough concrete information to lead them to the children.

A damaged ankle lends credibility that John Skelton met with some form of physical challenge between Thursday, when his sons were last seen alive, and the next day, when he claimed to be suicidal. The problem is John Skelton could have hurt his ankle any number of ways--like attempting body disposals.

Morenci Police Department and other agencies working together

Morenci Police Department and other law enforcement agencies involved in the case to date have made every effort to find the three missing boys in the midst of cold and harsh weather conditions, but to no avail.

John Skelton’s poem, “The Dumpster,” which imagines a young boy’s final moments of life, may just be the last piece of the missing boys puzzle needed to help bring home three children before Christmas—alive or dead.

And as horrible as it is to presume the children have met with a final end, sometimes a waiting parent needs to at least have the body of their loved one if death has occurred.

If John Skelton murdered his three little missing boys, he certainly isn’t feeling suicidal enough now to tell police he did—or to give their mother the peace of knowing where their bodies are buried. That really speaks to his potential intent for vindictiveness all along.

Natalee Holloway never recovered; same fate for Skelton boys?

Natalee Holloway’s mother has been to the same dark corners of doubt and confusion that would plague a mother of a missing child. And she’s never gotten her answers—or her daughter’s remains. Let’s pray that these precious little boys don’t suffer the same fate: the fate of the not knowing.  The FBI and the Morenci , Michigan law enforcement agency are sure doing their part and the public is too.

OMG - this absolutely horrible! I'm having a hard time grasping what could have happened to Kyron Horman, but to have a so-called dad have such "thoughts"????? That's just sick. I'm so tired of hearing about these horrific atrocities against children.
Good report, Radell. Depressing, but good coverage.
