John Powhida is a singer/song writer living in Boston who has been a multiple Boston Music Award nominee and has had his songs featured on episodes of "My Name is Earl" and "Men in Trees" television serials. In 2000, Powhida moved to Boston from Albany, New York because he wanted to be a part of the vibrant Boston music scene. After a few false starts he found the right players and formed a band called The Rudds.
Between 2001 through 2007, The Rudds released two well received CD's and finished second place in the WBCN Rock and Roll Rumble in 2006. They were also nominated for Boston Music Awards for best live band and best song, "Roslindale." Powhida was the lead vocalist and wrote all of the bands material.
For a time The Rudds were Bebe Buell's back up band (Actress Liv Tyler's mom). They played with Buell in New York City, Boston and Portland, Maine.
In 2007 the band called it quits and Powhida kept writing music and eventually formed John Powhida International Airport. The great Warren Zevon, Radiohead producer Paul Kolderie took Powhida under his wing and recorded a full album on his dime entitled, "Cut Way Down."
In 2011, John Powhida's International Airport, a potent 6 piece rock, disco, soul, pop fusion entertainment unit of the highest original order won the 2011 Rock and Roll Rumble.
