Singer/songwriter/guitarist John Mayer returns to SXSW 2012 this March in what will be his first appearance at the music festival since his 2000 set that launched his career. Mayer, who has stayed out of the spotlight in recent years, will be releasing his fifth studio album, Born and Raised, some time this year.
John Mayer's performance at the 2000 SXSW landed him a record deal with Aware Records, who produced his first album Room For Squares. The track "Your Body is a Wonderland" won a Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
Mayer's new album was scheduled to be released in the fall of 2011 but was delayed due to surgery for granulomas in his throat. So far there's been no release date scheduled for the 2012 Born and Raised album.
Mayer is next scheduled to perform at NAMM this week along with Tommy Lee and Slash.
