For many stars, Twitter is a way to connect and hear suggestions from fans -- however, it is also a very fast way for people to hate on you in the event that you stir up some controversy. According to Perez Hilton, some of this negativity is causing singer John Mayer to consider leaving the social-networking site. Here's what John had to say about the matter:
"Every night for the last two weeks, I think about canceling Twitter. The only positive thing on Twitter is saying 'Thank you' and directing [followers] to something cool and important."
Mayer then goes to explain how some of the negativity (likely brought on by an interview he gave to Playboy Magazine earlier this year) is starting to get to him:
"Why do I want more haters? If someone had told me when I signed up, I'd get half a million haters … It's all about the approval."
If Mayer goes through with the plan (which he might, since he hasn't actually "tweeted" on the site in over five days), he will become the latest high-profile celeb to say goodbye to the site. "Hannah Montana" star Miley Cyrus famously quit Twitter last year, and is now an outspoken advocate of young people getting off the internet and living their lives.

Well, some people believe John has gone incognito on Twitter under nickname @unmaskd
Too many things suggest that.
