John Mayer admits that he was a "jerk" in the past and while that’s hard to say about yourself publicly, many may agree he did come off that way from time to time. When Mayer departed ways with several celebrity girlfriends in the past, he didn’t have very nice things to say about the women to the media, according to ABC News on Friday, Feb.8, 2013.
to Mayer put Jessica Simpson down after the two parted ways, referring to her as “sexual napalm.” Jennifer Aniston was another ex that he talked about once they were over. Apparently he didn't realize at the time that he only made himself look bad as he spewed the derogatory words about Simpson and Aniston.
After admitting that he’d been a jerk, Mayer offered up an excuse for his behavior. Does his excuse hold water? He said he did this because he wanted everybody to like him," but unfortunately it seemed to backfire on him as people found his attitude toward his ex-girlfriends a bit rude and especially condescending.
Today Mayer’s with Katy Perry and even though the two were on and off again in the beginning of their relationship, they look pretty steady today. Mayer’s interview with CBS, which will air Sunday morning, has him owning up to his past behaviors, which is a step in the right direction.
