John Mayall to play Birchmere Tonight

British blues great John Mayall plays the Birchmere Concert Hall tonight, February 11, 2013 in Alexandria, Virginia. The show is scheduled to start at 7:30PM. John Mayall and his band is where Eric Clapton went to play after he quit The Yardbirds. Clapton was replaced by the great Peter Green. Other great guitarists who have played with John include Mick Taylor, Walter Trout and Coco Montoya.

Mayall’s and didn’t just attract great guitarists. Jack Bruce, the bass player for Cream and Mick Fleetwood, the drummer for Fleetwod Mac both played for John. John himself is a talented musician playing guitar, piano, organ, and harmonica and singing the blues. The legendary musician will turn 80 this year and he has been performing for seven decades.

John Mayall is a blues legend in his own right and his music attracted other great musicians. In his career he released over 50 albums. Last summer he toured with Buddy Guy.
