The two-day Beatles Fest West 2010 begins Saturday and continues through Sunday at San Francisco's Fort Mason.
The event will be highlighted by a Saturday concert from the Plastic Fauxno Band, a tribute to John Lennon as he might have performed if he had gone on tour in 1982. The members include Drew Harrison of the Sun Kings, Tiran Porter of the White Album Ensemble and formerly of the Doobie Brothers, Donn Spindt of the Rubinoos and session musician Tim Gorman.
Other tribute bands to appear will be the Sun Kings, the Cryers, the Beatles Project, the Bartron Tyler Group and the Return. Christina, who was a big hit at last year's show, will also appear.
Also, author Jeff Walker will discuss his new book, "Let's Put the Beatles Back Together Again, 1970-2010." Walker's book theorizes how the Beatles might have released albums using their solo songs had they stayed together. (Full disclosure: We'll be there appearing as well.)
