John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are expecting their first child together. She is due to give birth before the end of 2013. A representative for the couple confirmed the news to People on Sept. 11, 2013.
This is the first child for Blunt (who is 30) and Krasinksi (who is 33). The couple got married in 2010.
Krasinski is best known for his role as Jim Halpert on the TV comedy series "The Office," which was on the air from 2005 to 2013. He has also co-starred in several movies and is a filmmaker. His most recently released movie was the 2013 animated blockbuster "Monster's University." He was also in 2012's "Promised Land" (a drama about fracking), a film he wrote with co-star Matt Damon. Krasinski's other movies include "License to Wed," "Away We Go," "Something Borrowed," "Brief Interviews With Hideous Men" (which he wrote and directed), "Shrek the Third" and "Big Miracle." His next film is "The Prophet."
Blunt's most recently released movie was 2013's "Arthur Newman," a romantic drama co-starring Colin Firth. Her other movies include "The Devil Wears Prada," "The Young Victoria," "The Wolfman," "Gulliver's Travels," "The Adjustment Bureau," "The Muppets," "Your Sister's Sister," "The Five-Year Engagement" and "Looper." Her upcoming movies include "Edge of Tomorrow" (formerly titled "All You Need Is Kill") and "Into the Woods." She won a Golden Globe for her supporting role in the 2006 TV-movie "Gideon's Daughter."
Many famous actors who are married to each other have been co-stars, but Krasinski and Blunt have not yet worked together.
At the New York City press junket for "Promised Land," I asked Krasinski what his thoughts were about working with Blunt. He replied, "First of all, it would be a tremendous honor to work with her at all. To write for her would be terrifying because I wouldn’t want to screw anything up. I would work with her in a heartbeat, and we talk about what we would want to do. It would have to be the right project. It would have to be something really special.
"Obviously, the thing would be, 'Is the story of us working together bigger than the story in the movie?' And that’s one thing we don’t want to do. We want it to be special.
"But secondly, she’s my favorite actress, so I would be totally intimidated to work with her. I’ve seen the behind the scenes. I know how she prepares. She’s the real deal. It would be tough to be in a scene and want to whisper to her, 'I love you! You’re so good!' Stay professional!"
