John Kerry blames 'uninformed voters' for Democrats' problems

John Kerry (D-MA), the 2004 Democratic Presidential candidate who, by the way, served in Vietnam, called voters uninformed, according to an article by Hillary Chabot in the Boston Herald.

“We have an electorate that doesn’t always pay that much attention to what’s going on so people are influenced by a simple slogan rather than the facts or the truth or what’s happening,” Kerry said.

Democrats nationwide are feeling heat from voters concerned about high taxes, high unemployment and an ever-growing federal government that seeks to control every aspect of their daily lives.

Polls show that most Americans do not approve of measures taken by the Democrats since taking power.  Democrats have controlled both chambers of Congress since the 2006 elections, and won the White House in 2008.  The ruling party has solid majorities and can pass any legislation they want regardless of GOP objections.

The tactic of blaming 'stupid' voters, however, is likely to backfire.  Chabot quotes William Jacobson of Legal Insurrection, who said,  “It just continues the Democrats’ theme that the reason people are upset is because they don’t understand. They’re not smart enough. That sort of rhetoric just gets people even more upset.”

Calling voters stupid is nothing new for the left.  In 2006, Noel Shepard of Newsbusters wrote of an interview where Bill Maher told Larry King, "Again, because it's a stupid country with stupid people who don't pay attention.”

Apparently, liberal Democrats like John Kerry and Patty Murray think average Americans are simply too stupid to see the devastation the country has endured since January 2009.

Doug Powers wrote at michellemalkin.com, "If this doesn’t bump up Dem poll numbers, Kerry’s going to start riffing with the “voters mommas are so fat…” jokes to see if that helps."

The liberal tactics of insults, intimidation and obscenities are intended to distract voters from the real issues.  It's far easier to call voters stupid and uninformed - or worse - than it is to defend the indefensible.

But the voters will have the final say in November, and liberal Democrats like John Kerry may not like the results.

    Simple slogans - like, ummm, "hope and change"? Is that what you mean?

    I don’t think that there’s any question that voters are uninformed. What many of us are, more than anything, is emotional. People look at a headline and instead of considering whether or not they know the background information (what really happened), they assume that they are capable of evaluating the event correctly – that their emotional whims must be valid.

    Sure, voters can be stupid - they elected Obama and look at where we are now!

    It's true! all of it. The voters are uninformed and somewhat stupid, that is how the Dem's ended up in power in the first place and Mr. Obama in the White House. Can anyone dispute the evidence. I truly believe to win an election now day the votes must be bought with promises of "Freebies" for the masses. The freebie I want is the "Freedom" the country was founded on. That is all I want.

    Tom, how dare you want freedom ;-}

    Good to see you here.

    Well you have to agree with everything the democrats want too do, to be called "informed".

    After all how can you call yourself an informed voter if you hold an opinion other then the one given to you by the Democrats!
