John Kerr dies: 'Tea and Sympathy' star was 81

John Kerr dies at the age of 81. This star of stage and screen is best known for his roles in such notable films as "Tea and Sympathy," "South Pacific" and "The Pit and the Pendulum." Yahoo News! reported his death on Feb. 12, 2013.

A Broadway and film actor since the 1950s, John Kerr died at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, Calif. His cause of death was heart failure, according to his son Michael.

In "Tea and Sympathy," Kerr acted alongside actress Deborah Kerr. Despite their identical last names, they were not married to each other.

After the mother of John Kerr died, he decided to pursue a degree in law and spent the latter part of his life as a Beverly Hills attorney. However, he continued to take on the occasional acting role.

There does seem to be some discrepancy as far as the date John Kerr died since various media reports cite the date as Feb. 1, Feb. 6 and Feb. 9, 2013. Kerr didn't have an official website, but a fan website dedicated to his work lists his date of death as Feb. 2, 2013.
