It was Star Wars night at the Pepsi Center Saturday night, January 4, 2014. While there were Stormtroopers, Princess Leia, Yoda and many more Star Wars representatives in the stands, the Force was with team captain John Grant Jr. and his band of Stormtroopers. Colorado Mammoth made their second game a win. Overpowering the Vancouver Stealth and bringing a victory to the Pepsi Center with a winning score of 13-12.
The Colorado Mammoth came out strong in the first quarter and took a very fast and early lead. But Vancouver Stealth hung tough and came back with scores of their own. It was a night for many tricks. With the Vancouver Stealth taking a lead and looking like they had a game win in hand, the Colorado Mammoth stepped up to use their own sabers and put in goals. Goalie Dillon Ward hung tough in the goal. But he can thank his troopers to helping take over and bring a victory to the Pepsi Center.
While the light sabers were being used throughout the Pepsi Center, the hat tricks were many among the Colorado Mammoth. Hat tricks came from Adam Jones, Sean Pollock, and Drew Westervelt. Along with these tricks being performed, other light sabers shot their targets on goal. Dan Coates, John Grant Jr., Cameron Holding and Bob Snider put in a goal each.
The Vancouver Stealth goalie, Tyler Richards was left feeling like Darth Vader has each watched his men fall and not being able to stop the Force.
