If you like Springsteen but wish he was a little more country or folk, there's good chance you can appreciate the singing/songwriter style of John Eddie.
A friend of Springsteen's, Eddie embarked on his musical career during the same era, the 1970's. It was a time when modern rock was enriched with elements of blues, pyschedelia and folk while classic rock was something that geologists studied.
Eddie took the stage Friday night at Wilbert's in Cleveland just minutes after a spectacular fireworks display at Progressive Field across the street. He did so with the confidence and swagger one might expect from a seasoned veteran like Eddie. Nothing fancy, just him and a beat up guitar playing some old-fashioned rock 'n' roll with his band.
His quartet of aged-to-perfection rockers shook the bar to life with classic rock standards and several originals as patrons hit the dance floor.
Eddie's latest CD is called About John Eddie and is availible on iTunes.
