My heart is breaking to learn of the passing of John Braheny on Saturday afternoon, January 19, 2013. John may have lost his battle to cancer, but he was victorious in the lives of hundreds of songwriters and friends to whom he was the voice of wisdom with regard to all forms of writing.
I am so fortunate to have had the chance to call John and his beautiful wife JoAnn my friends for the past 11 years. He will live on in the truths he taught me and others about always writing from the heart.
Untold thousands have also been touched indirectly by the songs John had a hand in forming - with his critiques, suggestions, encouragements and support.
I am glad I got to tell the world how much this man meant to me, but not everyone was as lucky. Take the time to tell the important people in your life what they mean to you, while you still can. You never know how long you have.
Rest in Peace, my friend. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten.
