Earlier this week, Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) claimed the president's rhetoric was proof that he was on a mission to "annihilate the Republican Party."
A Republican leader blaming the President for the collapse of his own party is really a suicidal note.
Why? Because GOP’s motto carved in marble and one of America’s cornerstone principle is individual responsibility.
Blaming the President of the United States to be responsible for the annihilation of the Republican Party is not only the most incredible statement of bad faith, but in the historical moment we are living now it’s a real suicidal note.
I really think Boehner' statement is the greatest declaration of impotence ever made by a public official in the history of humankind. How could it be possible his party colleagues did not say a single word against such a poor judgement? If I were in the GOP board I would had immediately asked for his resignation. But here we are talking about a dead party and dead corpses cannot speak.
The republican party is dead and with his statement John Boehner declares he does not accept any responsibility for the GOP’s annihilation so what he does? He blames President Obama!
Republican voters should hit the street and occupy the Republican Headquarters after such an offensive statement. The GOP's crumble was caused by the total incapacity of their own leaders to respond to the American people’s real needs. Instead they got stuck in what they keep considering their ideology: anti-abortion, anti-same-sex marriage, anti universal healthcare, anti-gun control.
You cannot sustain a political party whose policy is based only on anti-something stances, especially in a big changes period like the one we live now, when people completely abandoned ideology for a more pragmatic vision.
Republicans kept up with their dinosaur-era bigotries they insist calling ideology and without any will to move or to compromise.
How are they going to survive?
The real paradox is GOPs indeed had enormous chances to score points, like the Universal Healthcare Reform for example, that was first suggested by ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation and then implemented by Mitt Romney. For some unexplained reasons Republicans left the healthcare reform to the Democrats while it could had been their comeback kick.
Instead they chose to oppose any proposal coming from the democrats just because Rush Limbaugh or other Conservative media pundits like Glenn Back or Bill O’Reilly had no-compromise positions.
Although you have to consider those are media people who are not public representatives and most of their audiences are in fact from the other political side who listen to them just for entertainment purpose.
History teaches us the Republican Party was never home to extremists. Every time the GOP shifted to the right, they lost the elections.
The fact is they saw the Occupy Wall Street movement was more-less openly Obama supporters so maybe Republicans mistakenly saw the tea party protesters for what the majority of their voters or worse the majority of Americans were thinking, completely ignoring that traditional republicans are a silent majority.
The truth is Republicans were not able to build a real constructive opposition despite having all the numbers to do it. What they did instead was just to scream bloody murder at any occasion given by the Administration and just because the President was reversing the hands-off governance of President Bush.
The Republican paradox is represented by the fact they opposed their own proposals. So their opposition was just a nonsense political exploitation.
Indeed with the exception of the Affordable Care Act, there is nothing done by Obama that hadn't already been in place under other presidents. There are less taxes now than under President Clinton, Bush or Reagan.
The healthcare reform law was first suggested by ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation and made by Romney in the state of Massachusetts. The Obama Administration provides subsidies to businesses in fields America wants to foster just like President Clinton and others have done before. The Dodd-Frank bill did not provide new regulations on businesses, in fact it's essentially re-imposing rules that President W Bush and Reagan got rid of.
The stimulus package was a series of tax cuts that Republicans had said they wanted.
The "Obamaphone" that Republicans constantly bring up was a program started under Reagan and shifted to cell phones under GW Bush, when cell phones became as cheap or cheaper than land lines.
Where in all of that is what Republicans define as "socialism"?
President Obama basically took a centrist pragmatist position, in repeated attempts to compromise. Is President Obama, who has said he wants to reform Medicare, supposed to be to blame for the fact that Medicare became insolvent long before he became president?
The only Republican arguments against this administration are the big spending, the big government, the socialism, the takers, the liberalism, the socialism.
Nothing more than these are last millennium definitions that reveal Republicans are stuck in the last century’s world, that was made of ideologies which today are completely dead and consequently meaningless.
Republicans are stuck in a meaningless non-existent world that led their party to collapse because real people want representatives to talk about today's issues.
And what Boehner does to solve its party problems? Blame President Obama!
Boehner had the brilliant idea that the GOPs catastrophy was not his own responsibility as a complete loser but it was President Obama to be blamed for annihilating the Republican Party!
Not too bad for a suicidal note, indeed we have to recognize it’s absolutely coherent with the conduct that took them to their own collapse.
