Joeys qualify for Asian Cup

Australia's Under 17s (the Joeys) have qualified for the Asian Under 16 Championships, strolling past Indonesia 5-2 to finish second in Group G and qualify for the tournament.
 
Australia opened the scoring in just the third minute after intercepting the ball from the Indonesians.
 
Indonesia stunned the Joeys six minutes later when they equalized through Muhammad Hargianto. Australia responded well Aaron Calver putting Australia back in front just one minute later thanks to a Lukas Stergiou corner.
 
Taylor Tombides was fouled in the box just before half time and it allowed Reece Papadimitrios to score Australia's third of the night from the spot.
 
Australia continued to assert their dominance, and Hyunga Tanner making it 4-1 aftersome nice build up play.

Indonesia managed to peg one back in the 66th minute as Australia couldn't handle their pace on the counter, Ichsan Hari Kurniawan scoring.
 
Tombides managed his brace in the 78th minute and wrapped up the scoring, Australia winning 5-2.
 
"What we have also learned during this tournament is that there are no easy games in Asia anymore and we need to work hard for every result." Said manager Jan Versleijen after the match. “We will now return to Australia and begin our planning and preparation for next year’s AFC U-16 Championship.”
