After winning the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Dover (Del.) International Speedway on Sept. 28, Joey Logano's No. 22 team was penalized as a result of the car not passing post-race inspection. Team owner Roger Penske was docked six championship owner points and crew chief Jeremy Bullins was fined $10,000.
According to a penalty announcement from NASCAR on Tuesday, the No. 22 car failed to meet the minimum front car hight requirement. In its penalty announcement, NASCAR cited sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing), 12-4J (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to the NASCAR rules detailed in section 20-A of the NASCAR rule book or has been approved by NASCAR prior to the event) and 20A-12.8.1(B) (the car failed to meet the minimum front car heights) of the 2013 rule book.
The No. 22 team leads the way in the owner points standings. Prior to the six-point penalty to Penske, the No. 22 led Joe Gibbs Racing's No. 54 team by 34 points. That lead has been reduced to 28 points. The win at Dover was Logano's fourth-straight Nationwide win at the track. The previous three, though, came with Joe Gibbs Racing.
