According to the Hollywood Reporter on Feb. 5, Joe Paterno's widow will finally break her silence next week for an exclusive interview with Katie Couric. This is Couric's second huge sports related interview, following her exclusive with Manti Te'o two weeks ago.
Sue Paterno welcomed Couric into her home, and will travel to the studio for the interview on Feb. 11. This interview will mark the first time that Sue has spoken to the media sine her husband passed away.
Joe Paterno dies in January 2012 after suffering through a scandal involving his assistant coach Jerry Sandusky, who was found guilty of molesting 10 young boys. His legacy as the greatest college coach alive was tarnished when investigations showed that Paterno might have known about the sins and helped cover it up to protect his friend and Penn State University.
After the truth broke, a groundswell broke that demanded that Paterno be removed as head coach of Penn State. Quickly, his reputation was shattered, and the giant statue commemorating his work at Penn State was also removed, amidst protests by Penn State faithful, who stuck by their coach to the end.
"Katie" airs at 2 p.m. EST.
