True Blood hunk Joe Manganiello isn't fazed about having to constantly get nude for the vampire drama because the entire cast does.

'WE ALL HAVE TO DO NUDE SCENES'

"We all have to appear naked on the show," Manganiello, 33, tells Access Hollywood. "[As a guy] you get three choices [on how to cover up]: one's a sock, a thong with a plastic back -- and I was warned that when you run really fast the plastic will snap.

"The third [choice] is the man panty or the 'manty,' which is so tight and constricting."

The buff 6'5" Joe, who plays werewolf Alcide, prefers to use a sock, while his co-star Alexander Skarsgard prefers to go completely nude.

While Manganiello has become an overnight sensation thanks to his appearance on the hit HBO series, he's had tough jobs before his big break came along.

'I DID CONSTRUCTION WORK TO GET BY'

"I was shoveling sand and gravel off the back of a truck trying to make ends meet for a little while in there," he said of his pre-stardom days. "Hauling cement bags and jackhammers. It got rough."

Fortunately, Joe's shoveling days are behind him -- at least for now. To stay in shape for filming, Manganiello works out a lot and follows a strict diet, like all his castmates do.

“During the season I work out twice a day, six days a week,” he says. “And it’s protein from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed. It’s just protein and vegetables every day. But I get one cheat meal a week.”

What does his girlfriend think about all his sizzling nude scenes? "There's a lot of understanding that she gives to me," he says. "She's been great about it all."
